1) What is Ibrik IDE?
--------------------------------------------------

Ibrik IDE is an IDE that is tailored for developing small-medium scale Ibrik
applications. It has syntax highlighting features as well as tools to invoke
the Ibrik compiler and provides help. Ibrik IDE is implemented in Java 2 SDK
and runs on any Java enabled platform. Tested on Windows 98 SE/Me/XP/2000 and
SuSE Linux 7.3 Professional without any problems.

TO FIND OUT WHAT FEATURES ARE AVAILABLE IN THE DIFFERENT EDITIONS OF THE IBRIK COMPILER,
REFER TO THE FILE IN THE DOC DIRECTORY TITLED 'Feature Chart.rtf' or 'Feature Chart.pdf'.

2) License & Copyright Information
----------------------------------

The Ibrik IDE is licensed under the GNU Public License except for certain files
that are licensed by David Flanagan. To read the GNU Public License, please refer
to the 'copying' file found in the root directory when the compiler contents are
extracted from the zip file.

are copyrighted by David Flanagan.

3) Installation Instructions
----------------------------

Make sure that the environment to invoke the Java interpreter java.exe is set on
your system. So if the JVM is installed under c:\jdk1.3.1\bin\java.exe, then the
environment variable in autoexec.bat should be: set path=c:\jdk1.3.1\bin; or if
you are using a Unix based machine and JVM is installed under /opt/jdk1.3.1/bin,
then the environment variable in .bashrc or .cshrc should be:
PATH=/opt/jdk1.3.1/bin

Extract the zip file using gunzip on Unix/Linux systems or WinZip utility on windows
platforms.

Set the CLASSPATH variable to a dot '.' so that JVM does not look for classes in
other directories, so this command will sort that out on the command line or shell:

set CLASSPATH=.

4) Invoking the IDE
-------------------

Type in:

%> java IbrikUIE

to launch the IDE.

Refer to the manual in the doc directory or Appendix D in the dissertation.

5) Bugs
-------

When changing themes from the help screen, it changes the themes for the whole of the IDE
in different places.

Refer the compiler bugs file BUGS.TXT file as it contains compiler bugs.

6) Late breaking news
---------------------

Refer to the readme_comp.txt file for late breaking news.
